Maison Martin Margiela for H&M
Well that is shocking news to me!It’s official that H&Ms latest designer collaboration will be with Maison Martin Margiela, making that one of H&M’s most avant garde partners yet. As we all know the swedish uber-brand has previously worked with about two design partners a year, including Karl Lagerfeld (2004), Stella McCartney and Viktor&Rolf (2006), Roberto Cavalli (2007) and most recently Marni, just to name a few. Margiela has always tried to maintain their image as a mysterious brand, which influenced the mainstream with its radical ideas and experiments with clothing.
This is the statement from Maison Martin Margiela making this collaboration official: ” We are very happy to present Maison Martin Margiela pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”
H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch says: ” Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela. This collaboration will be a great and memorable fashion moment.”
I already talked to some of my friends who think this collaboration is somehow the downfall for Margiela, who as a fashion label always followed its own path, often outside the conventional fashion framework. I honestyl don’t know what to think of this yet, but I have to admit I am a bit excited, and don’t really want to judge before I haven’t seen the collections.
What about you guys? Would you queue up for Maison Martin Margiela for H&M?

That news is everywhere – it really scares me, because it means on the launch day I w i l l go crazy trying to get my hands on the thoings- when all the other cooperations just really just let me shrug my shoulders, I never queued for anything… I complete love Maison Margiela!
I know, right? I was NEVER really impressed with any of the other collections and even if I liked something, up-close it just didn’t look good anymore. I mean to be honest, I don’t know if Margiela collaborating with H&M will work, because I don’t know if Margiela’s clothes work without the quality fabrics…as sometimes the “whoever” for H&M collections tend to look a bit cheap (remember Cavalli?!). But I don’t really want to criticize without even seeing the designs, till then I’m going to be really excited!
Remember to save some money till then,Love!
Haha, yeah thanks for the advice your completely right. I secretely hope that MMM is not so mainstream and that not so many people will be crazy about this collab. But that’s just a dream – besides when the collection is launched MMM will be the hype…
