Julius Men FW 2011/12

Just imagine the question everyone already had to answer: ” Name one person, dead or alive, you would love to spend one day with!”. Who would it be?
Now, my answer would have been Tatsuro Horikawa, designer of Japanese fashion label Julius.
My ideal dream date would include (not that Horikawa would ever agree to that one!) swapping minds with the designer, just to see how his approch on life in generell is, thus how he explores the dark and light forces in his mind struggling through the reality of the day.
In his designs Tatsuro Horikawa tries to combine fashion with underground culture, always as a mixture between avant-garde and mainstream.
To be liked by the Parisian Fashion circus is not something Horikawa and his label Julius aim for, but instead to create designs of everlasting beauty and meaning to the world.
In my opinion the pictures above, taken from the fall/winter 2011/12 collection speak for themselves, showing designs somewhere between cyber-punk and buddhist monk. In this collection (aswell as in the ones before) the colour black is still the base in which Tatsuro Horikawas creations can develope, adding light grey pieces, gold leathers and thick silver necklaces to brighten the mood of the collection. All the materials used for this collection are either soft wool or soft leather, comfortable and exciting to watch and wear.
If one should ever worry how the future of men’s fashion looked like, try to keep that amazing label in mind!
